Rains Third In Voting For USD 423 Board

With returns coming in late Tuesday night, The Ledger was not able to put the votes together from McPherson County and Harvey County residing in the USD 423 School District.

The vote totals are still unofficial. Election results are expected to finalized Monday, Nov. 13.

The top two voter-getters remain the same. Craig Galle has 268 votes, while Rick Kohl was next at 243. Only five votes separated the next three candidates in both counties.

Emilie Rains placed third with 179 votes with Becky Setser next at 177 and Jason Creed has 176.

County commissioners must make decisions on provisional ballots Nov. 13 and decide whether or not they should be included.

INMAN –Ally Leslie, senior at Inman High School, earned individual national champion honors, and helped the Inman team place fifth, in the National FFA Horse Evaluation Contest Oct. 25-26 during the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Kaylee Wedel finished in 10th place individually in the national contest, which took place at the Indiana State Fairgrounds.

The other members of the Inman team were Collin Wedel and Katie Krehbiel. There were 45 teams competing in the event.

Foundation Helps Local Non-Profits With Match Day

MOUNDRIDGE – A Moundridge Elementary School student helped her parents make their donations during the Moundridge Community Foundation’s (MCF) Match Day Thursday, Nov. 2, at Quincy’s Bar and Grill in Moundridge.

Hattie Hecox, a third grader, said her parents – Shane and Hilarie Hecox -  were donating to three groups – Moundridge Arts Council, the public library and Moundridge Education Fund.

She said it was important to help these community groups.

There were nine non-profit groups involved with Match Day. They raised an unofficial total of $18,825 during the six-hour event.

District Moving Along On Outdoor AthleticFacilities

INMAN – USD 448 Board of Education member Jessica Schierling said the Inman District must convince community members who are undecided on the need to update outdoor athletic facilities.

Schierling noted there is a group of district residents supporting a possible project, while other community members would be against it. She stressed it was important for the district to find ways to convince people “on the fence” to support it.

Board members talked about outdoor athletic facilities during their regular meeting Monday, Oct. 16, at the district office.
