Industrial, Business User May Be Charged Wastewater Surcharge

MOUNDRIDGE – The Moundridge City Council approved an ordinance that set a formula to charge an industrial or commercial business an “extra strength charge” if the user sends wastewater that is above the allowed strength in the city’s regular wastewater ordinance.

Council members made the decision during their meeting Tuesday, Sept. 5, at the city office.

According to the ordinance, the industrial or commercial user would be liable for the extra-strength surcharge when the biochemical oxygen demand concentration exceeds 300 milligrams per liter, the suspended solids exceeds a concentration of 350 milligrams per liter or the oil and grease concentration exceeds 100 milligrams per liter, as determined by the Environmental Protection Agency Methodology.

Inman’s Buller Moves Up Weight Class In Arm Wrestling At Fair

The Ledger StaffINMAN resident Kyle Buller moved up a weight division at this year’s Kansas Sate Fair’s Arm Wrestling Championships, in Hutchinson. Buller took third place in the lightweight division.INMAN resident Kyle Buller moved up a weight division at this year’s Kansas Sate Fair’s Arm Wrestling Championships, in Hutchinson. Buller took third place in the lightweight division.

INMAN – Kyle Buller, age 39, of Inman, has been competing for the last six years in the Kansas State Fair’s Arm Wrestling Championships, in Hutchinson.

The wheelchair-bound Buller had always entered the featherweight division. He decided to move up one weight class this year to the lightweight division.

Buller took third place in the arm wrestling championships, which were held Sunday, Sept. 10, at the fair.

“Last year, I went undefeated in the featherweight division,” Buller said. “I thought I’d move up a division to see what I could do.

Ullom-Minnch Earns National Merit SemifinalistRecognition

The Ledger StaffJESSICA Ullom-Minnich, senior at Moundridge High School, is among the 16,000 students nationwide to earn semifinalist recognition in the 63rd annual National Merit Scholarship Program.JESSICA Ullom-Minnich, senior at Moundridge High School, is among the 16,000 students nationwide to earn semifinalist recognition in the 63rd annual National Merit Scholarship Program.

MOUNDRIDGE – After a two-year absence, Moundridge High School had a student earn National Merit Semifinalist honors.

Senior Jessica Ullom-Minnich is among 16,000 semifinalists nationwide in the National Merit Scholarship Program. The National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) announced the names of the students Wednesday, Sept. 13.

“I was very excited,” Ullom-Minnich said when she was given the news. “I hadn’t expected to know for a few more days. I was very happy and excited.”
