Fatal Accident Claims Lindsborg Man

MOUNDRIDGE – Harvey Weis, 75, of Lindsborg, died from injuries he suffered in a two-vehicle accident late in the morning of Thursday, March 15, at the intersection of Arrowhead Road and Old Highway 81, McPherson County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Jerod Kaufman said.

Weis was traveling southbound on Old Highway 81. He was riding a Honda motorcycle.

Charles Johnson, 80, of Inman, was westbound on Arrowhead. He was driving a Ford Edge.

Kaufman, who investigated the accident, said Johnson halted at the stop sign. When he entered the intersection, Weis’ motorcycle struck Johnson’s SUV. Kaufman said he could not comment further on the cause of the accident.

Fourth Graders Show Off Inventions

MOUNDRIDGE – Macy Kaminkow wanted to solve a problem her parents were having when the operated P and M Pumpkin Ranch, west of Moundridge.

Kaminkow said they were having a difficult time keeping trash bags in the proper place to line their trashcans.

Kaminkow came up with Peel N’ Seal Trash Bags. Judges gave Kaminkow first place in the Inventor’s Fair for Moundridge Elementary School fourth graders Tuesday, March 13, at the school’s multipurpose room.

Schierling To Stop Down From Inman Council In May

INMAN – Councilman Devin Schierling announced plans that he and his family will be moving outside the city limits by May 1. The move would disqualify him from serving on the council.

With a seat open on the council, Mayor Jim Toews will appoint someone to fill the rest of the term. Council members will confirm the appointment.

“I know there are several people who have expressed interest to me,” Schierling said.

Schierling made his announcement during the council’s regular meeting Monday, March12, at the city office
